Andy Keefe is a Psychotherapist, EMDR Therapist, Personal Trainer (PT) and Nutrition & Weight Management Adviser. Andy combines therapy with fitness to help people recover from abuse-related trauma, depression, anxiety, chronic pain, disordered eating and body image issues. Andy has a special interest in helping people recover emotionally and physically, from birth trauma and chronic pain.

Andy is qualified in Exercise Referral for Health and Pre and Post Natal Fitness, therefore, he is able to work with people with a range of health conditions, including anxiety and depression, asthma, cardiovascular diseases and people recovering from knee/hip replacement operations.

 

Andy is also a Level Four Lower Back Pain Specialist PT and has recently completed additional training in Fitness for Covid Recovery. He combines these skills to help people process and recover from trauma and emotion held in the body.

Andy has been a therapist for over twenty years, working mainly with traumatised refugees and survivors of torture in London at both the British Refugee Council and Freedom from Torture. Andy is now in independent practice, with a consulting room next to Chancery Lane Station in London and also working online.

Interest/Specialties:

Trauma-related to early childhood sexual abuse and abusive relationships in adulthood.

Birth Trauma.

Psychological & Physical aspects of Lower Back Pain.

Trauma-related disordered eating.

Chronic Lower Back Pain:

NICE (National Institute of Clinical Excellence), recommends exercise and psychotherapy to address chronic lower back pain and Andy is able to provide both services to clients so that mind and body can be thought-about together. Clients on his lower back pain programme access a psychotherapy session and a PT session each week.

Andy offers fitness sessions outdoors, in green spaces in East London and the City.

 

Teaching / Training:

Andy is a Seminar Leader at WPF Therapy, teaching “Advanced Clinical & Theoretical Concepts” on the WPF training in Psychodynamic Psychotherapy. Andy also runs weekend workshops for WPF on Working with Trauma and Mental Health & Exercise.

Andy is an External Lecturer at the Tavistock Clinic, teaching on the MA Therapeutic Care for Refugees.
