Josephine Hutchinson is a Specialist Speech & Language Therapist with 40 years experience of working in the NHS, Private Sector, and Education with Primary and Secondary age students with SLCN and ASD. For 7 years she also worked as an NHS Manager in a Learning Disabilities Service, and then at St George’s Hospital Tooting as a hospital manager.  Recent posts have included working at Appleford School for children with Dyslexia and other co-morbidities, and for Hampshire County Council in the Specialist Teacher Advisory Service in the Communication and Interaction Team. Josephine has always been an enthusiastic advocate for children and young people who might not be able to speak for themselves and prides herself on her ability to connect with anyone: the young person, parents and families, education professionals, and all people connected with the CYP. As a mother of an autistic son, and another with severe SLCN, she particularly empathises with parents and caregivers.

  • Central School of Speech & Drama – 1981: Speech Therapy

  • Continuous updating including Elklan Tutoring, Lego Therapy, Makaton, Counselling, ADI-R.

Special interests/Expertise:

  • Language and communication, Language Assessment, Education interactions, and, of course, Autism.
